We’re almost there: as of the third quarter, iPhone cradles will be available for both the cradle-based Audio 2000 hands-free kit and the EGO Bluetooth multimedia hands-free kits. The advantages for your customers are that both cradles offer charging and telephony functions with output via the car’s radio speakers. The Audio 2000 hands-free kit is connected directly to the external aerial, enabling it to offer exceptional sound quality. The EGO cradle can optionally be connected to the external aerial, too. MP3 files stored on the iPhone can be played with the EGO Flash and the EGO Look via the car’s speakers when relayed via an A2DP Bluetooth connection.

The new software update 9.0 makes hands-free calling via the EGO Look and EGO Flash Bluetooth
hands-free kits even more comfortable. Both systems can now be equipped with new voice
functions that make telephoning whilst in the car even more convenient. The new features
include telephone directory sorting by first name and surname, announcement of the caller’s
name, voice output of the mobile phone’s navigation instructions via the car’s radio speakers,
audible connection confirmation and call waiting function.
Software update 9.0 is available to download now, free of charge, from the download centre
here.

Mobile phone users expect their hands-free kits to support their telephone’s Bluetooth profile.
However, as there is such a wide range of profiles, compatibility cannot always be guaranteed.
Retrofitted devices offer the best compatibility, since their development time is shorter than,
for example, the standard installations provided by car manufacturers. Funkwerk Dabendorf is
constantly increasing the compatibility of its hands-free kits and is continually testing
the latest Bluetooth telephones and smartphones. The following six models were added to the
list in April: HTC Touch HD2, Nokia 2690, Nokia X3, Nokia 6303i classic, Sony Ericsson J20i
Hazel and Sony Ericsson X10i Xperia. Before buying a Bluetooth hands-free kit, advise your
customers to check its compatibility with the telephone they wish to use. This can be done
quickly and easily here, using the Funkwerk Dabendorf product finder.

Nokia and BlackBerry are among the most popular telephone and smartphone manufacturers. As a
dealer you can take the chance if you are able to offer your customers a matching hands-free
kit, such as the cradle-based Audio 2000. At the start of the second quarter, Funkwerk
Dabendorf expanded its range of cradles for the Audio 2000 with attractive models from
both brands. Cradles are now available for the BlackBerry Bold 8900, the BlackBerry Curve
8520, the Nokia 5530 XPress Music, the Nokia 6303i and the Nokia 6730 classic. In June,
cradles will be available in shops for the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and the Nokia 3720 classic.
The Nokia 6303i model is compatible with the cradle already available for the Nokia 6303.

To make sure their assistance arrives quickly, the ADAC’s "Yellow Angels” from Europe’s
largest automobile club need to be contactable on the move at all times. “For our drivers,
the mobile phone is as important as their toolbox”, says Andreas Brockmeyer, coordinator of
mobile communications services at the ADAC. Since 2005, the roadside assistance crews have
been using Bluetooth hands-free kits from Funkwerk Dabendorf and since 2008, new cars in the
fleet were fitted with the EGO Flash Bluetooth hands-free kit. In addition, Funkwerk
Dabendorf has now also developed custom-made cradles for the Nokia 3720 mobile phone,
which the ADAC will begin using from around halfway through the year onwards.
