Dear Reader,
A new era of communication is beginning with the LTE mobile broadband standard. Not only for mobile, but also for stationary use, there will soon no longer be anyone to say: "I can't get in." Funkwerk Dabendorf designs its solutions such that applications can be used where we actually spend most of our time – at home, at the office and in the car. Find out about the current status of our activities in our current newsletter.

It could all be so simple: With LTE available, there is no need to fret about any lack of DSL cables in the region. Just connect a wireless modem to your computer and take off surfing at broadband speeds. That is the theory. This new mobile broadband standard is supposed to finally provide homes and businesses in rural areas with high-speed Internet access. But, as so often, the devil is in the detail. Not only are signals weaker at the edges of network cells, but nor do they (without suffering some loss) reach many places they are actually needed, i.e. the interior of buildings. Heat-insulated glazing and reinforced concrete walls take care of the rest, resulting in shaky data transmission.
Now get full performance from the LTE network for your customers – even where conventional routers and sticks reach their limits. Take advantage of the sales potential promised by this new mobile broadband standard! The new LTE MIMO antenna from Funkwerk Dabendorf is now available.

Satisfied customers are the best sales makers. With this philosophy, Sven Brandt, an IT specialist from Nienburg District of Lower Saxony, has successfully held his own in ever increasing competi-tion for 15 years. Mass suppliers may be beating hardware prices down to rock bottom lows, but Internet applications at customer premises in rural areas continue to create business for specialist shops – and not bad business at all. Thus, most of the time Sven Brandt and his four employees are at customer's premises, assisting them in setting up connections. When that is taken care of, laptops, routers and the like can be sold. So, what does that have to do with campfires?

Due to license requirements, the priority in developing LTE goes first to rural areas with low broadband coverage. Now the new mobile broadband standard has also arrived in big cities. And it's done so in Germany's city states. With very nearly 100% coverage having been achieved in Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg, the process is now starting up in cities, too. Thus, Vodafone has now installed a base station beneath the dome of the Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin for the first LTE network in the town centre of Germany's capital city.

Those who would like to have the rare and interesting experience of seeing ultramodern and sensitive production of mobile communications systems are cordially invited to Dabendorf on 21 May 2011 from 10 a.m. Funkwerk Dabendorf will then be opening its doors and offering those interested a glimpse behind the scenes at a technology company. The event will take place as part of the state-wide Tag des offenen Unternehmens ["Open-door Day for Businesses"]. Under the sponsorship of State Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck, the campaign is to make the efficient performance of the economy in Brandenburg more accessible to the citizenry. Two of our specialised dealers from the region will be taking advantage of the opportunity to present the product range from Funkwerk. New products include, for example, our two antenna systems that enable high-speed Internet access to both the UMTS- and the LTE-network.
